to the Department of Civil Aviation - Lesotho
The mission
of the department of Civil Aviation is “to provide for the
control, regulation and development of aviation in Lesotho and
for other matters incidental thereto and to give effect to the
Chicago Convention and the Transit Agreement” (Aviation Act,
1975. ACT NO. 32 OF 1975 p.86).

The Department
operates through major sections namely,
Flight
operations, Air Transport,
Air Traffic,
Telecommunications/NAVAIDS,
Fire Operations,
Security,
Airworthiness,
Aeronautical

Lesotho is a country completely landlocked within the
Republic of South Africa. The country is characterized
by mountainous terrain which occupies approximately two
thirds of the 11,300 square miles. Access into this,
even though there are gravel roads that do not penetrate
into the mountain settlements, is still mainly by air.
