The department of Civil Aviation Mission is "to provide for the control, regulation and development of aviation in Lesotho and for other matters incidental thereto and to give effect to the Chicago Convention and the Transit Agreement” (Aviation Act, 1975. ACT NO. 32 OF 1975 p.86).
 

Objectives

	To develop the aviation industry through safety and economic regulation.
	To implement safety and security standards for air transport in accordance with International Conventions, standards and recommended practices.
	To regulate and control operations of airports, air transport, air traffic, flight safety, telecommunications, navigational systems, and aeronautical services.
	To provide and maintain aerodromes/airfields/airports and related infrastructure
