INVITATION FOR
PROPOSALS TO CARRY OUT DOMESTIC AIR OPERATIONS IN LESOTHO
Lesotho is a
country completely landlocked within the Republic of South
Africa. The country is characterized by mountainous terrain
which occupies approximately two thirds of the 11,300 square
miles. Access into this, even though there are gravel roads
that do not penetrate into the mountain settlements, is
still mainly by air. In order to adequately serve these
communities with transport needs, operations utilizing small
to medium sized turboprop stol aircraft are required.
During the
weekends and holidays, Basotho mineworkers travel from their
places of work in South Africa, to their homes in the remote
mountain areas. In addition, limited weekend time for many
people now working in the lowlands also necessitates fast
transport to their homes in the mountainous area and back.
Civil servants, traders and the general public in need of
accessing the remote areas on business for one day are
currently unable to do so due to transport constraints. Air
transport is therefore the obvious answer to reducing their
travel time.
Interested investors are therefore invited to submit
proposals to the:
